The Saturday Post: October 2026
A little introduction
This Saturday post was inspired by Caffeinated Reviewer. Every last Saturday of the month, I will do a little monthly recap with life updates, recommendations, and discoveries, along with future posts I’m working on and some blog updates you might have missed. I wanted to keep it “The Sunday Post,” but I wanted to start this month, and unfortunately, the last Sunday of October already passed, so only this Saturday remains. I think it would be fun to share a little update from each month with y’all. And so, The Saturday Post it is!
Life update
This month, I have been very preoccupied with school and studying, especially those anatomy and medical terminology classes that can be hard to keep up with. I sometimes struggle to find the motivation to study, but the fear of bad grades is stronger than my laziness.
I also took the time to go back to blogging after so long. Going back felt great, and I realized again how much I like having my little corner of the internet.
Unfortunately, October brought a few less-than-pleasant moments, too. I had to undergo oral surgery to have a tooth extracted, and as I’m writing this, I’m lying down on my bed. But I guess that was great: I got a five-day weekend! Not exactly how I would have chosen to spend it, but at least I had enough time to rest without having to function in society with a swollen cheek.
On the blog
I’m taking part in a Christmas reading challenge, hosted by That Happy Reader! I’ve put together a reading list of five books, and I’m hoping this challenge will encourage me to get back into reading.
You can check out my reading list here.
I also invested more time in the blog’s appearance and visuals, changed its theme, and I’m pretty satisfied with the result! There are still one or two small things I’d like to fix, but the website looks much more interesting now.
I have found quite a few new, cute apps lately, and I’ve been trying them out. I can record things I wouldn’t normally include in my journal, such as the shows I’m watching and things I’m enjoying. Social media can feel overwhelming with all the ads and endless scrolling, but these apps tend to have a more specific purpose.
I’ve found quite a few worth exploring, so expect some app introductions and reviews coming soon!
Currently into…
Mascara
I’ve recently started using mascara and experimenting with it. I wasn’t sure what kind to get since I’ve never really used makeup before, but I’m enjoying it! It makes my eyes look nice, and I find the whole process fun.

A new bag
I bought a new bag! It’s brown, and I really like it. I saw it once on Pinterest, and I knew I had to get it. Maybe I am a bit too easily influenced, but I don’t regret it. To be fair, I’ve been saying for a while that I wanted a brown bag, so I suppose this purchase was somewhat justified. Let us say that was an early Christmas gift from me, haha. The bag is a little slouchy, but I don’t mind that. The bag is big enough to fit my laptop, ipad and a couple of other things I might need for everyday outings. Now that I have my brown bag, I should probably exercise some self-control and stop looking at other bags. Although, secretly, I wouldn’t mind having ten.
Trying to get back into journaling
I also haven’t been journaling much those past few weeks. I struggle to find time to do everything I wanna do, and journaling has unfortunately been pushed aside. But since I’ve been wanting to get back into it, I did something rather questionable: I bought more stickers. Yes, I know. Buying stickers won’t make me journal more, but having new stickers might make me want to use them, which might encourage me to journal more. I don’t know if it’ll work, but I really do want to get back into journaling.

Looking ahead
November is just around the corner, and I can’t believe that 2026 is ending already. Honestly, I have no idea what to expect. I’ll just take things as they come, try to keep up with school, and hopefully find time for the little things I enjoy.
And that’s it for this first Saturday Post! October wasn’t particularly eventful, but there were still plenty of little things worth sharing.
‘Til next time
Xoxo, Neila
